At Cantera, our lease program is thoughtfully structured to support both rider development and the long-term well-being of our horses.

School Horse Lease Program

Our school horse lease program is the perfect next step for riders who are ready for more consistency while remaining within a structured lesson environment.

What It Includes

  • Priority use of your preferred school horse during lessons

  • Consistent partnership to support faster progress

  • Continued guidance within our lesson program

Lease Options

2x Per Week Lease — $410/month
3x Per Week Lease — $600/month

  • ½ farrier & bodywork

💡 This option is ideal for riders who want a dedicated horse without the responsibility of independent riding.

Private Horse Lease Opportunities

For riders ready for more independence and expanded opportunities, we offer access to privately owned horses within our program.

These horses may be owned by Cantera or by trusted clients and are thoughtfully matched to each rider.

What This Offers

  • A more individualized riding experience

  • Increased riding opportunities, including potential hack rides

  • Greater flexibility for showing and advancement

  • A deeper partnership with one horse

Types of Private Leases

  • Care Leases (covering the cost of the horse’s care)

  • Paid Leases (structured lease agreements with horse owners)

Each lease is customized based on the horse, rider, and goals.

Lease Horse Search Assistance

If the right horse is not currently available within our program, we offer personalized assistance in sourcing a lease horse.

We work closely with trusted owners and industry connections to help find safe, suitable matches for our riders.

What We Provide

  • Guidance on horse suitability

  • Coordination with owners and lease opportunities

  • Support through the trial and decision process

  • Help integrating the horse into the Cantera program

Fees

  • $250 search initiation fee

  • 10% commission if a horse is secured outside the program

Many riders progress through the program in stages:

Weekly Lessons → School Horse Lease → Private Lease → Showing → Horse Ownership
